GOD HELPED ME
by Set Chhit, Former resident of COSI, Cambodia. He is currently in the Post COSI Integration Programme.
I am very thankful to God for bringing me to stay in COSI in 2012. When I was in COSI, I started to attend school for the first time and was enrolled into Grade 5. I did not know any of the Khmer consonants and vowels though I was in Grade 5. I could not read when the teacher asked me to read. This was because I could not recognize any word. I was very frustrated and sad, and sometimes I hid somewhere and cried alone. I prayed and told God that I wanted to know how to read Khmer.
In COSI, there were too many children and, sometimes, the house parents do not really know the problems that every child faced. I was too embarrassed to tell anyone that I did not know how to read since I was already in Grade 5. It was not until Grade 9, four years later, that God sent someone to teach me personally. It was only when I was in Grade 10 that I started to recognise and read Khmer. I was so happy and was really grateful to God for answering my prayer.

When I was in Grade 12, I encountered another problem. I was not good in my studies. So, I asked God to help me to pass my Grade 12 National Examinations. I made a promise to God, I know I should not, but I did. I told God that if I were to pass my examinations, I will testify of how He answered my prayer. Thank God! I passed my National Examinations! I shared how He answered my prayers during the Sunday Worship Service and now I share them to you.
I am so thankful to God for everything that He has given me! May His name be praised! Amen!
