FROM REJECTING GOD TO FOLLOWING CHRIST

My name is Chhat Mengseang. I am 24 years old (as of 2026), and I live in Bos Thlan Village, Svay Teap Commune, Chamkar Leu District, Kampong Cham Province.

I would like to share how God changed my life.

A Time of Rejecting God

I first heard about God in 2012 when I was around 12 or 13 years old. It was through my younger sister, Chhat Vicheka. At that time, I wanted nothing to do with Christianity. In fact, I often made fun of my sister because of her faith. I teased her, spoke harshly to her, and tried to discourage her from believing in God. Looking back, I am ashamed to admit that I even treated her roughly at times.

But there was something about her that caught my attention. Every night, after finishing her homework, she would quietly read her Bible. She did this faithfully, day after day.

One day, I became curious and asked her, "What are you reading? What is this Bible?" She let me borrow her old Bible, and I tried reading it. I did not understand much of what I read, so I put it aside. At that time, I was not ready to know God.

God Was Still at Work

In 2018, when I was in Grade 11, I went through a very difficult season. My life felt confusing and overwhelming. I became so discouraged that I decided to quit school and stay home to help my parents on the farm.

After a few months, my uncle, Bun, encouraged me not to give up. His words gave me hope, and I decided to return to school. Eventually, I continued my studies at university.

University brought new challenges, but it was also where God began to work deeply in my heart. During that time, I came to understand who Jesus is and what He had done for me. I realised that I needed Him. I put my trust in Him, accepted Him as my Saviour, and decided to follow Him.

A New Life in Christ

Since then, my life has never been the same.

God has changed my heart and given me a new purpose. I now want to put Him first in every part of my life, in my studies, the decisions I make, my volunteer work, and the way I live each day. I am still learning and growing, but I have experienced God's faithfulness and grace in so many ways.

When I look back, I can see that God was working in my life long before I knew Him. Even when I rejected Him and mistreated my sister because of her faith, He was patiently drawing me to Himself.

This testimony is only a small part of what God has done in my life. There are many more ways He has shown His love, grace, and faithfulness.

My prayer is that my story will encourage others to seek Jesus and discover the hope and new life that can only be found in Him.
