WHEN LOVE CAME TO MY VILLAGE

by Rev Jansuda, Pastor-in-charge of Nong Bua Lamphu Methodist Church, Thailand.

Every year, a mission team from Wesley Methodist Church in Singapore visits our community. Their love and faithfulness have left a lasting impact on my life. They came to teach English to children, youth—and even to me. I used to be shy and afraid to speak English, but today, I can communicate with Singaporeans and other foreigners, even if not fluently. Their encouragement gave me a confidence I never had before.

What touched me most was their genuine love, humility, and willingness to serve. They always prayed for me. Every visit brought joy and renewed strength to continue serving God.

I remember the first time they came. I was just 12 years old, not yet a believer, and facing a very difficult time. My family was broken. My parents had divorced, and I had no home of my own. My relatives had secretly sold our land. My father was working far away, and my mother had been unreachable for years. I was living with my aunt.

One day, the mission team visited our village. They came to our house, listened to my story, and showed me compassion. They gave me 500 baht and a survival kit. I didn’t know them, and they didn’t know me. However, I could feel the love of Jesus through them.

Later, another mission team—Uncle Shiu Yong and Auntie Kim—came. I didn’t understand why they cared so much for me and my friends. They loved me like a daughter and made me feel like I had a family again. They supported me through prayer, watched me grow, and encouraged me until I eventually gave my life to Christ.

Today, I am serving as a pastor—and they continue to visit and serve in Nong Bua Lamphu. I thank God for them with all my heart.

Note: NBLPMC celebrated its 20th Anniversary on 23 August 2025. To commemorate this event, Rev Jansuda wrote three testimonies as she recounted some deep impressions in church over the past two decades. These testimonies of faith, love, and God’s transformative work had shaped her spiritual journey and continued to inspire her today. This is her second testimony. The third testimony will be published soon. Look out for it!
