ROOTED IN FAITH, RICH IN LOVE

One of the most inspiring people I have ever met was Nang Khamchan Rattanasuwan, a 56-year-old widow whose unwavering faith left an indelible mark on those around her. Strong in the Lord and deeply in love with Him, Khamchan was passionate about Scripture. She often copied Bible passages by hand and had read the entire Bible more than three times.
Humble, prayerful, and ever eager to serve, she lived just 500 metres from the church and faithfully brought her four granddaughters to every service. Over time, each one of them came to faith in Christ.
Khamchan suffered from a chronic heart condition and had previously undergone surgery. Though her health was fragile, her faith never faltered. Even as her body weakened, her prayers remained powerful. She persistently lifted her family, church members, and God’s servants in prayer.
I will never forget the day I visited her in the ICU. She was on oxygen, unable to speak, but fully alert. Clutching her Bible to her chest, she gestured for a pen and paper. With trembling hands, she wrote, “Please read the Bible to me.” As I read Psalm 91 aloud, she listened peacefully and eventually drifted off to sleep.
The next day, she handed me another note. It read: “I prayed for Num (my boyfriend), that he would pass his exam to work in South Korea.” That very day, Num passed his exam.
Even in her final days, Khamchan’s heart remained full of love and compassion. Her concern was never just for herself—it was always for others. Her selflessness and strength still move me deeply. Sometimes I wonder how powerful our church would be if we had just five people with faith like hers.

Not long after, Khamchan went home to be with the Lord. Yet her legacy lives on—especially in her granddaughter Fern, now 23 years old. Once a church volunteer who served without seeking reward—teaching children, leading worship, and supporting evangelistic efforts—Fern inherited her grandmother’s passionate faith. Today, she walks closely with God, her life profoundly transformed.
Note: NBLPMC is celebrating its 20th Anniversary on 23 August 2025. To commemorate this event, Rev Jansuda wrote three testimonies as she recounted some deep impressions in church over the past two decades. These testimonies of faith, love, and God’s transformative work had shaped her spiritual journey and continued to inspire her today. The other two testimonies will be published soon. Look out for them!
