GOD’S UNFAILING LOVE

by Miriam, Member of Water of Life Methodist Church, Thailand.

Hello, my name is Miriam. I am 11 years old and in Grade 5. I was born into a family of teenage parents—my mother was just 14 when she became pregnant with me. From the very beginning, my parents struggled to understand each other. When I was only 14 days old, my father was already drinking heavily and often did not come home. Because of this, my parents quarrelled frequently.

My mother wanted to take me back to my maternal grandparents' house so they could help raise me, but my father refused to let me go. In the end, my mother left me in the care of my father and my paternal grandmother, who has raised me since birth.

As I grew older and started attending school, my grandmother would tease me, saying that I had no parents. This hurt me deeply. I became jealous of my friends, who had loving parents and toys to play with at school. I felt worthless and struggled with low self-esteem.

But when I was eight years old, my grandmother started taking me to church every Saturday and Sunday. There, I learned about God through His Word. As I got to know Him, I realised that I am a child of God, deeply loved and valued. His love healed the wounds in my heart.

Today, I am more confident and happier than ever before. Last year, my mother reached out to me, and we reconnected. Seeing her again filled me with joy. I believe it was part of God’s plan for us to meet. I thank Him for His faithfulness, for helping me, and for loving me unconditionally.

Now, I love going to church and learning more about the Bible. I enjoy singing songs of worship to God. When I grow up, I want to study theology and serve Him.

One of my favourite Bible verses is Mark 10:14:

But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

I know that I belong to God, and I trust Him with my future.

Dear Miriam, I am inspired by your sharing. In spite of your challenging growing up years, you have declared that the Lord has enabled you to eventually reconnect with your mother. That's awesome! May the Lord surround you with His love , and grant you wisdom as you grow in faith and obedience to Christ. God bless you and family! Shalom.
