FAITH THROUGH THE STORM

“Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” (John 11:40, ESV)

When we first embarked on this journey in 2020, we never imagined it would take five years to complete. The vision for Tanawat House was simple: to provide a safe haven for our Shan boys as they continued their tertiary education in Chiang Mai. Initially, we thought six rooms would be enough.

But God had something greater in mind. Along the way, we were introduced to the concept of Business as Mission (BAM) that Tanawat House could be more than just a hostel. It could also generate income to sustain and support the wider ministry. What began as a small plan grew into something far beyond what we first envisioned.

God, in His wisdom, never revealed the full extent of the challenges ahead. Had we known the roadblocks, we might never have taken that first step into the “Jordan.” Yet, step by step, God revealed His glory through every obstacle and milestone.

The world shut down in 2020. Supply chains were disrupted by global events, and inflation caused our budget to burst again and again. Unexpected issues surfaced at every turn. We were often discouraged, sometimes deeply so. But God never failed us.

Today, Tanawat House stands complete, a testimony of God’s faithfulness and provision. More than 10 million baht was raised for this project!

As the finishing touches were made, another fear loomed: would there be enough tenants to keep the hostel running? To our amazement, within a month of opening publicity, all 20 rooms were fully booked.

On 22 July 2025, we held the dedication and opening service of Tanawat House, giving thanks to God for His provision, and for the countless prayers and encouragement from His people.

Tanawat House is more than a building. It is a home where our Shan boys, who graduated from Term Fun Home, can continue their education in a supportive Christian environment. At the same time, it stands as a source of revenue to sustain ministry and expand God’s work.

We pray that this will be the beginning of a new and fruitful chapter. May Tanawat House continue to testify to the glory of God.
