CHANGED THROUGH SERVICE

My trip to Nong Bua Lamphu (NBLP) taught me that service is often found in the simplest moments.
Before the trip, I imagined that we would be the ones bringing help and making a difference in the community. Instead, I discovered that the people we met were the ones who transformed me. Through their gratitude, resilience, and joy, they showed me what it truly means to live with a thankful heart.
Throughout the trip, we spent time connecting with local families, children, and community members. Although language barriers sometimes made communication challenging, kindness and compassion spoke louder than words. Every interaction reflected warmth, sincerity, and a genuine desire to connect.

We organised activities for children, visited homes, and shared meals together. What touched me most was the generosity of the people we met. Despite having far less than many of us, they welcomed us with open hearts and gave so freely. Their hospitality reminded me that true generosity comes from the heart and is never measured by material wealth.
One of the most impactful aspects of the trip was witnessing how faith and hope can flourish even in difficult circumstances. Many families faced daily challenges, yet they continued to support one another with perseverance and positivity. Their outlook challenged me to reflect on my own life and appreciate the blessings I often take for granted.
The trip also strengthened our sense of teamwork and community within our group. Serving together required flexibility, perseverance, and a willingness to support one another. While there were moments of exhaustion and discomfort, these experiences revealed strengths we did not know we had. For me personally, stepping out of my comfort zone to perform in the skit became a turning point. It helped me grow in confidence and gave me greater assurance in speaking and performing in front of others.
Looking back, I realise that this mission trip was not only about serving others. It was also about allowing God to shape and transform my own heart. It reminded me that even the smallest acts of love can leave a lasting impact, and that true service begins with a willing and humble heart.
