BREAKING CHAINS

Hello, my name is Wan. I am 12 years old and currently in Grade 6 at Maitrijit Christian School. I would like to share my testimony of God’s love and how He broke the chains in my family.

I was not born into a Christian family, and my parents separated when I was seven years old, while I was in Grade 1. I have a twin sister, and we both live with our father. My grandmother’s house is right next to a church, and I thank God that she is a believer in Christ.
Since I was a little child, my grandmother has taken me to church every Saturday and Sunday. There, I have been studying God’s Word and learning more about Him. Now, as a Grade 6 student, I feel closer to God every time I worship Him. I have experienced His love, and even though my parents are separated, I know that God has never forsaken me. I believe He is real and that He can help me in every situation. Because of this, I made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as the Lord of my life and was baptised in December 2024.
However, there was a heavy burden in my heart—my father did not believe in God and was a heavy smoker. I longed for him to be free from this habit, so my grandmother and the teachers at church prayed earnestly for him. We asked God to break the chains of addiction in his life and provide enough for him to buy a house.
I held onto faith, believing that God would answer our prayers. And one day, He did! My father finally quit smoking. The chains of addiction were broken, and I saw God’s power at work in my family. I am so grateful to Him for hearing my prayers and showing me His love.
Truly, our God is great! Amen.
My favourite Bible verse is Matthew 7:7: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."
Through my journey, I have learned that when we pray, God moves. He breaks chains, sets people free, and changes lives. I will continue to trust in Him always.

Dear Wan, Thank you for sharing the testimony of God's power in breaking the chain of addiction of your father. Praise God that he honors the prayers of His children. Keep up that faith in Christ. Maintain your focus on speaking to the Lord as a child of God, as well as praying with you family and church. Indeed God is a God of miracles! What men thought is impossible, God can make it possible to those who believe! Be encouraged. Shalom.
